Job description

Grant Thornton GTech's Data & Analytics function is delivering a global SAP S/4HANA GROW (Public Cloud) ERP transformation, with concurrent investment in a modern Data Lakehouse that serves migrations, integrations, analytics, and AI products. The SAP S/4HANA Data Migration Analyst is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for driving data migration activities across multiple legacy source systems, entities, and regions into S/4HANA. This role owns field-level mapping decisions, coordinates execution across the system integrator and data migration vendors and is accountable for the mapping and migration of assigned data objects through mock loads, SIT, UAT, and cutover. The role works directly with Professional Services, Procurement, Finance & Accounting, and other business system owners to define data mapping and transformation rules, resolve ambiguous mappings, descope where data quality or readiness requires it, and ensure that what lands in S/4HANA is trusted, reconciled, and fit for application use. The right candidate makes calls, drives meetings to closure, and operates without needing escalation for day-to-day decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end data migration for assigned data objects (Customer, Vendor, GL, AR/AP, Fixed Assets, Project, etc.) across mock loads, SIT, UAT, and cutover.
  • Make field-level mapping decisions independently, including descoping decisions when source data quality, readiness, or business decisions are not in place to meet load milestones.
  • Drive coordination meetings across the system integrator, data migration vendor, and business system owners, owning data object-level plans, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Partner with Professional Services, Procurement, Finance & Accounting, and other business system owners to document, clarify, and resolve mapping requirements, including guiding business owners through field-level decisions when they are unable to decide alone.
  • Develop and maintain Source-to-Target Mapping documents, business rules, transformation logic, and data definitions for SAP S/4HANA migration objects.
  • Perform data profiling, cleansing analysis, reconciliation, and validation across source systems (legacy ERPs, Engagement Management systems, regional systems) and target S/4HANA structures.
  • Use Snowflake, SAP Migration Cockpit, S/4HANA application, and CDS views to extract, reconcile, and validate data.
  • Analyze reject records, root-cause data issues, and drive resolution with the responsible party (source system owner, SI, migration vendor, or business).
  • Coordinate global migration scope across multiple entities and regions (EMEA, LATAM, APAC), accounting for regional data variation, statutory requirements, and entity-specific mappings.
  • Support the broader Data Lakehouse strategy by ensuring migrated financial data is documented, lineage-traceable, and ready for Snowflake/Medallion consumption.
  • Mentor junior analysts and engineers on SAP data migration practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of data analyst, business data analyst, or data migration lead experience in enterprise data environments, with at least 3+ years focused on SAP data migration.
  • Required: Multiple SAP S/4HANA data migration project cycles (Public Cloud / GROW preferred; private cloud acceptable based on market).
  • Preferred: Professional services or accounting industry experience, where heavy customization and entity complexity in legacy systems are the norm.
  • Preferred: Global / multi-entity migration experience across EMEA, LATAM, and APAC.
  • Experience with data modeling methodologies (dimensional modeling, data marts, data warehousing, star/snowflake schema). Agile/Scrum delivery exposure.

Benefits & conditions

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
