Job description
We are seeking a Leadership Development Manager who is energized by both the wildness of the outdoors and the complexity of human development. Reporting to the Leadership Development Director, you will serve as a case manager, workshop facilitator, summer camp leader, and program architect, all at once.
This is not just a desk job. You will build genuine relationships with students, guide them through transformative experiences on the trail and in the classroom, and help them chart a path to postsecondary success. You will also be a core member of a collaborative, fast-moving program team that holds itself to a high standard of execution.
What You'll Do
Student Relationships & Case Management

Build authentic, high-support relationships with each student on your caseload

Provide 1:1 coaching and advising sessions, ensuring every student has a concrete plan for postsecondary success

Manage all aspects of student engagement: communication, attendance tracking, and paperwork completion
Programming & Facilitation

Design and facilitate leadership development workshops, curriculum, and year-round events (including weekends and after-school)

Serve as a Camp Leadership team member, planning, managing, and facilitating all operations of the Camp and Bridges summer experiences

Lead and support students through outdoor and expedition-based programming
Operations & Team

Maintain accurate records in Salesforce, including student participation, contact information, demographics, and outcome data

Support student recruitment through presentations, application reviews, and interviews

Assist with seasonal staff recruitment, onboarding, and management

Represent C5LA externally at events, workshops, seminars, and conferences

Collaborate on team-wide project-based work as assigned
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Youth recreational activities facilitation?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience working in youth leadership, college access, or community action

Direct experience with camping, outdoor education, or leading students in wilderness/expedition settings

Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with high school students from diverse backgrounds

Experience in group facilitation and experiential learning

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Salesforce (or similar CRM)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Valid California driver's license and ability to travel throughout LA

Physical ability to hike and access all activity areas of Camp

Availability to work some evenings and weekends, with an occasional Tuesday-Saturday schedule

Ability to be 'on duty' up to 24 hours per day during summer programs
