Job description

Reporting to the Chief Health Information Officer, the Vice President IT - Patient Experience, Clinical Applications and Engineering is responsible for partnering with Yale New Haven Health System and Yale University leaders to develop and accomplish strategies and tactics that leverage technology, data, and analytics to achieve organizational goals supporting our patient care, education, and research missions. The Vice President leads a team of professionals who are directly responsible for evaluating, selecting, designing, building, testing, implementing, optimizing and integrating applications and technologies. He/she is accountable to align organizational vision and strategy, business and clinical workflows with technology, establishing and meeting project timelines and budgets, allocating team resources, monitoring, managing and escalating risks. The VP works with customers and colleagues to ensure that applications and technology function as a unifying and transformative tool across the health care continuum. Serving as a business management liaison to our corporate affiliates and contracted customers, the VP serves on one or more senior leadership teams in the delivery networks and affiliate organizations and is equally accountable to his or her peers for collaborating to create seamless solutions for the enterprise. The VP has the responsibility to seek out opportunities to create value from data and to collaborate with leaders across the organization to champion and rally the organization around Business Intellegence (BI) and Translational Analytics. The VP develops the strategy for data mining techniques, resources and analyses that sort, organize, summarize, notify and connect the organization to clinical, financial, and operational information. Develops the strategy for training and education programs, prioritizing and deploying system processing and audit control resources relating to enterprise analytics including appropriate policies and procedures which are consistently applied and evaluated across platforms.

  • Develop and enhance team competence and engagement through robust talent acquisition, retention, training, employee evaluation and performance management
  • Preserve and protect data integrity and privacy so that data are reliable, accessible, and secure.
  • Engage and manage vendor relationships and contracts to ensure their assets are optimally leveraged to achieve alignment with strategic, fiscal and operational needs. Negotiate vendor terms and contracts in concert with colleagues in Legal and Risk Services, Procurement and business stakeholders to drive maximal value and service delivery for YNHHS/YU.
  • Advance Data Literacy across the organization by collaborating with C-suite partners, national experts, and leaders across the enterprise to ensure that data are prepared in meaningful ways for analysis, produce actionable information, and are visualized in impactful ways.
  • Promote data ethics, adhering to all regulatory standards around data privacy and security and operating to the highest ethical standards as stewards of our data.
  • Democratize access to and use of data by appropriately sharing data within and across organizations and take a process-oriented, automated, and collaborative approach to designing, implementing, and managing data workflows and a distributed data architecture.
  • Advance the data and analytics maturity of the organization in response to industry demands and organizational needs to move from understanding what has already happened and drive to understanding cause and effect, predicting future events, driving organizational learning and sparking innovation.
  • Direct support for research at Yale School of Medicine and Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI) through system selection, data management, governance, and analytics services. Continually review, update and recommend consistent system-wide policies and procedures dealing with Enterprise Analytics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and to provide guidance, mentoring and training of department management staff. Build and support Key Performance Measures and Indicators that drive company measurement and performance in areas including: Service Lines, Marketing and Communications, Patient Experience, Finance, Operations, HR, ITS, Compliance and Risk Management, Planning and Strategy Management, Safety and Quality.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in health care, computer science, or related disciplines, required; training/experience in systems analysis and design, project management, performance management and customer relations., * 7-10 years of progressive, relevant experience in IT or healthcare required with a minimum of 5 years in a management position. IT management experience is preferred., * Previous participation on multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams/groups
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and relationship building across diverse groups with often competing priorities
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, skilled communicator comfortable working with senior leaders and physicians and engaging with diverse group of customers
  • Skilled in project management and change management tools and techniques with strong working knowledge of applications and technology within area of responsibility.
  • Capable of identifying opportunities for integration and synergies across disparate operational areas or delivery networks.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

  • Must be willing to travel and operate from the various YNHHS and YU campuses and the entities we serve. Must be able to manage teams working across diverse locations, including tele-commuting, and maintain team communications, engagement and effectiveness.
