- Design, integrate, and test outdoor perception systems involving data loggers, embedded computing, and sensors such as cameras, lidar, radar, and GPS receivers.
- Drive the integration of new perception and automation technologies on real machine platforms, solving practical system-level challenges in demanding operating environments.
- Contribute across the full development cycle, from early concept ideation to system integration, field validation, and performance evaluation.
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in field tests for data collection and performance verification of complex perception and machine automation systems.
- Analyze experimental data independently to assess system performance, identify limitations, and diagnose technical issues during integration or testing.
- Work across software, electronics, sensing, and machine interfaces to resolve integration issues quickly and effectively.
- Communicate observations, test results, and technical findings clearly to project teams and stakeholders.

In a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment, you will help bridge research and deployment, turning new technologies into intelligent, connected machine capabilities that improve productivity, customer value, and sustainability in agriculture and construction, * Understanding of the design principles, functionality, and practical challenges of outdoor perception and image processing systems.
- Experience with embedded systems, Linux scripting and CLI usage, common Linux system administration tasks.
- Software development skills in C++ and/or Python; Matlab experience is a plus.
- System integration skills across software, electronics, sensors, and mechanical systems, including the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under time pressure.
- Background in robotics, autonomous systems, or intelligent machines, with the ability to address practical system design and integration challenges on physical platforms.
- Good coordination and execution skills for field work and testing activities, both independently and in small teams of up to 3-4 members.
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly, adapt to new technical areas, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently in a structured, pragmatic, and results-oriented manner.
- Ability to use modern AI tools responsibly and effectively in relevant work situations.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in both German and English.

The salary for this position (full-time) is based on the ERA group 10 of the collective agreement of the metal and electrical industry Rhineland-Pfalz and consists, in addition to the gross monthly salary of 5,590.00 €, of various special payments (holiday pay, T-Zug, Christmas pay, etc.). You can expect an annual salary of approx. 77,000 € in this position.
