Job description

Provide expert advice and guidance on GIS across the council, holding regular sessions to communicate key messages and developments

  • Lead on GIS support and development, promoting and enhancing the council's geographical mapping systems to national standards

  • Carry out spatial data capture, analysis and presentation to ensure accuracy and integrity of the council's geospatial data

  • Manage the council's relationship with Ordnance Survey through the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement, including monitoring changes and attending relevant meetings

  • Create, implement and maintain the Geospatial Strategy for the council and implement best practice for spatial data management

  • Provide training to council staff and members and present reports and demonstrations to internal and external audiences

  • Work with third party suppliers and project managers to implement new GIS systems and upgrades

  • Undertake periodic quality audits of spatial data and review areas where GIS reporting could be enhanced

Requirements

Do you have experience in Communication skills?, Hold a degree with a strong spatial data component, or at least three years of equivalent professional experience

  • Demonstrate proven experience in spatial database development and implementing spatial data standards

  • Possess excellent communication skills to convey information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Show strong knowledge of the Ordnance Survey Public Sector Geospatial Agreement, ISO 14001 and BS7666 standards

  • Are dependable, adaptable and responsive with strong attention to detail and the confidence to act assertively

  • Have experience working with multiple stakeholders and leading spatial data integration projects across business systems
