Job description
We're looking for a hands-on Development Team Lead to lead a team of developers supporting and enhancing a primarily VB6 and Oracle PL/SQL-based application portfolio, while helping guide ongoing modernization efforts. This is a manager-track role focused on people leadership and delivery-not full-time coding-but requires enough technical depth to review code, influence design decisions, and query data when needed.
You'll oversee a mix of break/fix work, enhancements, and multiple active projects, operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Success in this role requires a proactive mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to balance legacy system stability with forward-looking improvements, while collaborating closely with executives and cross-functional partners.
Requirements
-
Strong software engineering foundation with solid OOP understanding, especially within legacy application environments.
-
Prior hands-on development background with significant experience in VB6 and Oracle PL/SQL
-
Ability to review and guide VB6 and PL/SQL code, support technical decision-making, and contribute to architecture discussions.
-
Strong SQL proficiency, with the ability to write and review queries independently (Oracle preferred).
-
Experience leading teams supporting high-volume, ticket-driven workloads alongside active project work.
-
Demonstrated ability to take initiative quickly, operate with urgency, and learn new technologies as modernization efforts evolve.
-
Comfort prioritizing work in environments with more demand than capacity.
-
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage executives on a regular basis. * Deep experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, and legacy VB6 systems.
-
Background in legacy modernization, system refactoring, or platform migration initiatives.
-
Exposure to parts of the broader stack, including:
-
React (with Node.js)
-
PostgreSQL
-
Experience helping introduce or mature CI/CD practices in traditionally manual or legacy environments.
-
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
