Job description

We are currently seeking a Data & Cloud Solutions Engineer for our Data Sciences Practice in our Los Angeles, CA office. In this role, your primary work will revolve around helping Exponent's team rapidly implement and iterate algorithms, analyses, and visualizations to support clients in the consumer electronics, utilities, and life sciences. You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering highly technical consulting in software development, data engineering, data science, and DevOps by designing, automating, deploying, and maintaining robust, scalable data solutions to support client business objectives
  • Leading or collaborating on all phases of the client engagement lifecycle, including identifying client needs, framing and scoping business problems, developing project and sprint plans, building and deploying analytics solutions, and translating insights into actionable recommendations
  • Developing cloud-based architectures, automating deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows, and implementing best practices in system reliability, monitoring, and security
  • Advising clients on both technical and strategic business solutions, identifying new technology-driven opportunities, and helping clients plan scalable, sustainable, and efficient systems
  • Supporting business development by proactively building relationships with clients, identifying new project opportunities, and helping craft and execute business and technical solutions, either independently or collaboratively with firm leadership

Requirements

Do you have experience in Team leader (DevOps)?, * Advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.S.) in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related scientific/technical field

  • Expertise spanning several domains, including:
  • Software development using modern engineering best practices, ideally with hands-on DevOps and/or Agile team leadership experience
  • Data engineering (ETL, workflow/pipeline automation), data science (machine learning, analytics), and DevOps (automation, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, system monitoring)
  • Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining data-intensive applications in cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Proficiency with at least two of the following: Python, R, C++, SQL, or Linux (RH 7+), plus experience developing across diverse platforms (desktop, web, cloud, or embedded)
  • Experience with visualization/dashboard tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or custom web solutions
  • Strong communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical, scientific, and business concepts for diverse audiences
  • Business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of identifying value for clients, framing business plans, and driving business development
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to thrive independently and as a collaborative team member in fast-paced, multidisciplinary settings
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Our Opportunity, Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary. The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process. Salary Range: USD $133,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
