Job description

A Data Engineer with Niche RMS experience is required to work on a large technology and business change project where the client is replacing their current records management system Athena Connect with the Niche RMS platform.

You will work closely with work the Programme Team, Data Architect, and external suppliers (including Niche and migration partners) to design, build, and optimise data pipelines and platforms that underpin migration, reporting, and operational readiness.

Key objectives include:

Design and implement scalable data pipelines to support RMS migration and analytics Enable efficient ingestion, transformation, and validation of data across systems Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards Support migration, reporting, and operational data use cases Facilitate data accessibility for Data Analysts and business stakeholders, As the Data Engineer (Niche RMS) you will undertake the following:

Design, implement, and optimise scalable data pipelines to support RMS migration, reporting, and analytics Enable efficient ingestion, transformation, validation, and integration of data across multiple systems, including Connect and Niche Perform analysis of existing data structures and content to support mapping, transformation, and migration activities Collaborate with the Data Architect to define and implement target data models and standards Coordinate with migration suppliers on data extraction, transformation, loading, and validation processes Ensure data quality, integrity, compliance, and consistency through cleansing, enrichment, and exception handling Support testing phases including system testing, user acceptance testing, and dress rehearsals Maintain reporting, issue tracking, and documentation, including handover to internal teams Facilitate reliable, accessible, and analysis-ready datasets for Data Analysts and business stakeholders

Requirements

Proven experience delivering data engineering solutions in large-scale programmes

Strong expertise in data pipeline development, ETL/ELT, and data integration

Experience with data migration and transformation in complex environments

Knowledge of data modelling, warehousing, and data lake architectures

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

Understanding of data quality, governance, and compliance frameworks

Experience working with structured datasets and large volumes of operational data

Experience within UK policing or criminal justice environments (desirable)

Experience of Niche RMS is preferred
