Serve as the primary technical resource for brazing application support across the customer base, partnering closely with Sales to deliver high-quality service and solutions.
. Develop a strong understanding of customer products, brazing processes, and common challenges to provide effective technical guidance.
. Support customers and Sales through email, phone, and in-person technical training, including planning and leading on-site brazing seminars for key accounts.
. Communicate product value and promote the Lucas Milhaupt brand through technical expertise and customer engagement.
. Conduct failure analysis and process development trials to support customer applications and optimize brazing performance.
. Collaborate with Engineering to support product development, manufacturing initiatives, and mentor junior engineering staff.
. Contribute to commercial growth by supporting marketing efforts, authoring technical content, participating in trade shows, and developing technical sales enablement tool
. How Would You Accomplish This?
. Partner closely with Sales to provide hands-on brazing application support, building strong customer relationships through responsive, high-quality technical service.
. Gain a deep understanding of customer products and brazing processes to proactively identify issues and recommend effective solutions.
. Deliver technical support and training through email, phone, and on-site visits, including planning and leading brazing seminars for key and strategic accounts.
. Conduct failure analysis, process development, and optimization trials to improve customer outcomes and support application success.
. Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support product development, expand current product capabilities, and represent the voice of the customer.
. Share expertise through technical content, industry participation, and trade shows to strengthen brand visibility and commercial impact.
. Develop and maintain technical sales enablement tools that help Sales communicate value and accelerate solution development.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and root cause analysis for non-conformances.
- Maintain accurate documentation of quality checks and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Technical engineering?, We're looking for an Applications Engineer who enjoys working with customers and solving technical challenges. In this role, you'll support industrial OEM customers by helping select materials, optimize processes, and trouble shoot brazing and soldering applications. You'll partner closely with teams across Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Operations to deliver practical solutions that support our business goals. The ideal candidate has some experience with brazing, communicates effectively, and is a motivated self-starter eager to learn. This is a full-time, on-site position at Lucas Milhaupt's Milwaukee headquarters, with occasional travel to visit customers. Training and development will be provided to help you grow and succeed in the role., What Are We Looking For?
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or another related field.
- At least 2 years in applications, process, or manufacturing engineering with exposure to brazing or soldering processes preferred.
- Able to effectively manage multiple projects and execute on them in a timely manner.
- Posses a deep understanding of the commercial processes and how technical solutions help provide faster and more profitable closure.
- Strong communication with the ability to translate complex material science topics into practical shop-floor instructions and clear customer guidance.
. Strong sense of responsibility and ownership. . Familiarity with ISO standards and lean manufacturing principles. Nice to have:
- Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting furnace/induction/torch brazing processes; understanding of base-metal behaviors and joint design.
- Proficiency with CAD (for joint/fixture concepts) and data analysis for process capability.
- Familiarity with building and implementing new SWI's and training programs for operators on both new and existing equipment.
- Knowledge of the solution selling process and how to leverage technical solutions in new business opportunities.
- Working knowledge of common hand tools and basic shop machinery (e.g., drill press, band saw, grinders) for prototyping.
