JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst & Data Modeler with deep expertise in Product & Insurance Risk within Life & Health Insurance, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and Claims domains. This role is responsible for designing enterprise-grade data models, analytics pipelines, and reporting solutions to support insurance claims analytics and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong data modeling and SQL expertise, combined with advanced Power BI development skills, including Power BI Premium/Fabric architecture, Lakehouse, semantic modeling, and enterprise reporting design. Key Responsibilities Analyze and document business processes for insurance product development, underwriting assessments, risk scoring, reinsurance allocations, and claims adjudication workflows. Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, risk, and claims teams to capture functional and non-functional requirements. Translate complex insurance risk rules into detailed Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specifications (FSDs), and User Stories. Analyze and model data related to insurance products, underwriting risk scores, reinsurance structures, and claims lifecycle events. Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models supporting insurance risk analytics and reporting layers. Support development and enhancement of Product & Insurance Risk frameworks aligning with regulatory expectations and internal governance. Assist in mapping reinsurance treaties, ceded and assumed reinsurance rules, and integration touchpoints across policy admin, underwriting, and claims systems. Document reinsurance business processes, bordereaux reporting requirements, and quality assurance checkpoints. Develop source-to-target mappings for underwriting, reinsurance, and claims datasets across multiple systems. Support data quality checks, lineage documentation, and risk metric definitions. Perform SQL-based data analysis to support underwriting rules, reserving calculations, risk exposure reporting, and claims trend analysis. Work with cross-functional Agile squads to design workflows, integrations, and platform enhancements supporting underwriting, reinsurance, or claims modernization. Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and product grooming sessions. Collaborate with architects and developers to validate technical feasibility of requirements and ensure alignment with architectural patterns. Serve as a primary liaison between business units and IT delivery teams. Coordinate with third-party vendors to support integration and system configuration activities. Facilitate workshops, requirement walkthroughs, and UAT cycles to ensure clarity, completeness, and alignment. Design and develop enterprise-scale Power BI solutions, including semantic models, complex DAX measures, calculation groups, and multi-layered datasets optimized for performance. Design and implement Fabric-based analytics solutions, including Lakehouse/Warehouse modeling, Delta tables, medallion architecture, and semantic model integration with Power BI. Optimize datasets for large-scale, near real-time analytics across insurance risk domains. Required Qualifications Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, with up-to-date knowledge of the latest Power BI features and enhancements. Strong proficiency in SQL and DAX for data transformation, querying, and advanced calculations. Solid expertise in data modeling, including designing efficient and scalable semantic models. Skilled in data analysis, with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets. Experience implementing and managing controls within Power BI, including governance, security, and performance optimization. Strong, hands-on expertise in Power BI, including thorough knowledge of the latest features and updates. Deep expertise in advanced data modeling and building efficient, scalable semantic models. Must be a Power BI and data modeling specialist, capable of designing optimized, high-performance reporting solutions. Bachelors degree in information technology, Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field. 5+ years of experience. Preferred Qualifications Domain experience in the insurance industry. Familiarity with insurance core systems such as: Guidewire (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, Reinsurance Management), Life/Health Policy Administration Systems (e.g., ALIP, Ingenium, OIPA), Underwriting workbenches or rating engines. Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau. Certifications Professional certifications in Agile, Business Analysis (CBAP/PMI-PBA), Insurance (CIP/LOMA), or Risk Management (CRM/FRM) - Nice to have.
