Job description

DHS is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to support mission-critical applications in an AWS environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL RDS administration, performance tuning, database design, automation, and cloud-based database management., * Administer and maintain PostgreSQL databases in AWS RDS

  • Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and partitioning
  • Develop functions, stored procedures, and automation scripts
  • Monitor database health and resolve performance issues
  • Support CI/CD deployments and database releases
  • Collaborate with developers on database design and optimization
  • Maintain database documentation and best practices

Requirements

  • 5+ years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience
  • Strong experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL
  • Expertise in query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and performance optimization
  • Experience designing tables, schemas, functions, and stored procedures
  • Knowledge of PostGIS and GIS-related database queries
  • Experience with database monitoring tools such as Dynatrace
  • Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or Shell
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and database deployments
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Experience with database security, access controls, and encryption

Preferred Skills

  • ETL/Data Warehouse experience
