Job Summary We are seeking a Senior IBM Netcool/Omnibus Engineer to support the design, deployment, administration, and optimization of enterprise event management and observability platforms. This role will be responsible for maintaining IBM Netcool/Omnibus infrastructure, supporting integrations with monitoring and ITSM platforms, implementing high-availability solutions, and ensuring the reliability of mission-critical event management services. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IBM Netcool/Omnibus, Linux administration, Oracle databases, event correlation, automation, and enterprise monitoring environments. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain IBM Netcool/Omnibus infrastructure for enterprise-wide event management. Develop and optimize ObjectServer configurations, triggers, automation procedures, and event processing workflows. Create and maintain event correlation rules, filters, and enrichment policies to reduce alert noise and improve operational efficiency. Monitor platform performance and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal operation. Manage probe configurations and integrations with multi-vendor monitoring and observability tools. Administer Linux systems hosting Netcool/Omnibus components. Support Oracle backend databases for reporting, integrations, data management, and operational activities. Implement and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions. Execute system upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities with minimal downtime. Troubleshoot complex technical issues across the event management ecosystem. Design and implement webhook integrations with third-party monitoring and ITSM platforms. Develop custom integrations using APIs, scripting languages, and middleware technologies. Create automation workflows to streamline event processing and incident management. Collaborate with observability teams to onboard new monitoring and telemetry sources. Apply ITIL-aligned event management best practices. Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures. Establish and enforce configuration management standards, naming conventions, and operational best practices. Participate in change management activities and governance reviews. Support ongoing migration and deployment initiatives involving Netcool/Omnibus environments. Participate in on-call support and maintenance activities as required. Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Netcool/Omnibus, including ObjectServer, Probes, and Gateways. Strong understanding of Netcool architecture, including OMNIbus, Impact, WebGUI/Dash, and Message Bus. Experience administering and deploying Netcool/Omnibus components in enterprise environments. 3+ years of Linux system administration experience. Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, networking, file systems, security, and system administration. Working knowledge of Oracle databases, including SQL query development, reporting, data analysis, and performance monitoring. Experience supporting backend Oracle databases used by Netcool environments. Strong SQL skills. Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, PHP, or JavaScript. Experience with event correlation techniques and alert management strategies. Strong understanding of enterprise event management and ITIL principles. Knowledge of network protocols including SNMP, Syslog, HTTPS, and REST APIs. Understanding of monitoring concepts such as thresholds, baselines, anomaly detection, and observability. Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure environments including servers, networks, applications, and databases. Experience deploying and supporting high-availability solutions. Understanding of Global Traffic Management (GTM) and virtual IP architectures. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience integrating Dynatrace with Netcool using APIs or webhooks. Experience integrating ServiceNow with Netcool for event and incident management workflows. Experience with webhook architectures and RESTful API integrations. Experience with Splunk, Control-M, or other observability platforms. Experience with IBM Netcool Impact or OMNIbus Process Control scripting. Experience with IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps. ITIL Foundation certification or higher. IBM Netcool or Tivoli-related certifications. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
