Job description
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of sophisticated monitoring solutions for enterprise-level applications, infrastructure, and cloud services to ensure proactive identification of performance degradation and availability issues.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automation frameworks and tools, leveraging scripting and orchestration platforms to significantly reduce manual intervention, improve efficiency, and ensure consistency in IT operations.
- Manage small to medium projects of moderate to significant complexity related to monitoring and automation initiatives, taking full ownership from conception through delivery and post-implementation review.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of system performance data, logs, and metrics to identify root causes of complex problems, anticipate future needs, and recommend strategic improvements to system architecture and operational processes.
- Contribute significantly to process improvements within the Business Technology department, leveraging expertise in monitoring and automation to refine existing procedures and establish new best practices.
- Provide expert-level guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to less experienced team members and other IT professionals on monitoring tools, automation techniques, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Development, Operations, Security, and Business units, to integrate monitoring and automation into the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) and operational workflows.
- Ensure the monitoring and automation infrastructure adheres to security standards, compliance requirements, and corporate governance policies, contributing to audit readiness and risk mitigation.
Impact/Dimensions: This role significantly impacts the stability, efficiency, and reliability of Bunge's IT operations globally by applying in-depth knowledge of monitoring and automation disciplines and a solid understanding of related IT domains. The Specialist adapts departmental plans, actively recommends best practices, and proposes solutions that enhance operational excellence. Their contributions directly lead to improved system uptime, reduced operational costs through automation, and faster problem resolution, all of which are critical for supporting Bunge's global business continuity.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Percentage reduction in mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to resolve (MTTR) critical incidents.
- Quantifiable efficiency gains through automation of operational tasks and processes.
- Coverage and accuracy of monitoring for critical applications and infrastructure.
- Successful delivery of assigned monitoring and automation projects within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Effectiveness of proposed and implemented process improvements.
Major Opportunities and Decisions: This position requires performing a variety of complex tasks, often necessitating extensive analysis to understand underlying issues and contributing to the delivery of solutions where precedent may not exist. The Specialist will apply best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to significantly improve products, services, or processes related to monitoring and automation. Decisions often involve selecting strategic tools, designing complex automation workflows, and architectural choices that impact the overall operational efficiency and resilience of Bunge's IT landscape.
Management/Leadership: This role manages projects and processes independently with limited supervision, allowing for the choice of tactics to reach established goals. The Specialist provides leadership and direction to professionals and/or support staff, guiding their daily activities and fostering their technical development in monitoring and automation.
Key Relationships, Stakeholders & Interfaces (External & Internal):
- Internal: Infrastructure and Operations teams, Application Development teams, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Service Desk, Project Management Office, and various IT and business unit stakeholders.
- External: Technology vendors, consulting partners, industry experts, and communities of practice for monitoring and automation.
Requirements
- Expert-level knowledge of enterprise monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch).
- Deep proficiency in scripting and programming languages for automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Go, JavaScript).
- Extensive experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their native monitoring/automation services.
- Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, networks, storage, virtualization) and application architectures.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices monitoring.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis for complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence technical decisions.
Minimum Requirements, Education/Experience: Typically a Bachelor's degree (a Master's degree may be preferred) with 11-14 years of position-related experience in IT monitoring, automation engineering, or a related infrastructure discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience level.
