Job description

Overview: In this role, you will lead the development and execution of the communications infrastructure that enables remote assistance and teleoperation across an autonomous vehicle fleet. This position sits at the intersection of vehicle systems, networking, cloud infrastructure, and distributed software platforms. You'll collaborate with engineering, product, and leadership teams to deliver mission-critical systems that support autonomous vehicle operations in complex real-world environments.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead end-to-end program management for large-scale, cross-functional engineering initiatives from strategy through execution and delivery.

  • Drive the development and evolution of the communication backbone supporting teleoperation and remote vehicle assistance.

  • Partner with senior engineering and product leaders to define roadmaps, align priorities, and achieve business and technical objectives.

  • Coordinate dependencies across multiple engineering teams, external partners, and stakeholders.

  • Establish and improve program management frameworks, processes, and best practices across the organization.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks while managing escalations and critical decision points.

  • Communicate program status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to technical teams, leadership, and executive stakeholders.

  • Participate in architecture, system design, and technical planning discussions, providing input on feasibility, sequencing, trade-offs, and delivery risks.

  • Support the deployment and operation of networking, communications, and cloud-based systems used in autonomous vehicle operations.

This role requires working across multiple layers of the autonomous vehicle communications stack, including:

  • Wireless Technologies: LTE, 4G/5G, Multi-WAN load balancing

  • Networking: TCP/UDP, NAT traversal, network security, mTLS

  • Distributed Systems: DDS middleware and cloud orchestration

  • Data Infrastructure: Kafka, Protobuf serialization

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS services, API Gateway, cloud infrastructure

Requirements

7+ years of Technical Program Management experience delivering complex, large-scale engineering programs.

  • Proven experience managing multi-team software development programs across the full software development lifecycle.

  • Strong technical foundation with the ability to participate in architecture discussions and evaluate system design trade-offs.

  • Experience leading infrastructure, platform, networking, or product engineering initiatives.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across organizations.

  • Experience creating or improving program management processes, tooling, and operational frameworks.

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.

  • Experience leveraging AI tools and agentic AI systems to support technical decision-making and program execution.

Qualifications:

  • Experience at a software company managing infrastructure, platform, or product engineering programs.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • Understanding of distributed systems architecture and operations.

  • Previous experience as a software engineer or in another highly technical role.

  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, or Scrum certification.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
