Job description
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build, manage, and optimize scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms that enable enterprise analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives. This role will lead the development of modern ETL/ELT solutions across Microsoft Fabric and Azure while ensuring enterprise-grade data integration, governance, security, and performance optimization.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure data engineering, Microsoft Fabric, modern data architecture, ETL/ELT development, and enterprise-scale data platform engineering., * Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from diverse structured and unstructured data sources
- Build and maintain modern data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse
- Design and optimize database architectures and data platforms for performance, scalability, reliability, and security
- Develop modern cloud-native data solutions supporting lakehouse and medallion architectures
- Integrate data from APIs, third-party platforms, and hybrid on-prem/cloud environments
- Develop data workflows using Python, SQL, Spark, and modern data processing frameworks
- Implement secure enterprise data architectures using RBAC, Key Vault, Private Endpoints, and Managed Identities
- Design data security controls including row-level, column-level, and object-level security
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for data platforms using Azure DevOps or GitHub
- Establish automated deployment, testing, and environment promotion strategies
- Support downstream semantic models and reporting layers by delivering well-modeled and governed datasets
- Partner with analytics, reporting, and AI teams to deliver trusted production-ready data products
- Optimize data platform performance through partitioning, Delta storage optimization, and query tuning
- Implement robust observability through telemetry, alerting, anomaly detection, and lineage-based root cause analysis
- Ensure platform reliability through fault-tolerant orchestration and automated validation processes
- Lead architecture discussions and influence enterprise data platform standards
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering excellence and knowledge sharing
- Operate effectively within Agile delivery environments
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or Platform Engineering
- 5+ years building production-grade data solutions on Microsoft Azure
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Strong experience with at least two of the following:
- Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure SQL, Power BI
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python
- Strong experience with Spark and modern data processing frameworks
- Experience with data processing tools such as PyArrow, Pandas, NumPy, Polars, delta-rs, or DuckDB
- Strong experience designing modern data architectures including lakehouse and medallion models
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Git workflows, and environment promotion
- Experience implementing enterprise security, identity, and access controls
- Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis skills
- Experience working in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments
- Microsoft Fabric certifications preferred including DP-700, * Experience optimizing Delta storage and partitioning strategies
- Experience with columnstore optimization and low-latency analytics workloads
- Experience supporting semantic models and enterprise analytics platforms
- Experience supporting AI and advanced analytics initiatives
- Additional certifications such as DP-600 or DP-203 preferred
- Strong leadership and mentoring experience
