Job description
In overleg Medior Den Haag As a AWS Cloud Engineer (Freelance) at NN you build and maintain the AWS Landing Zone and reusable services, create Terraform modules from CDK constructs, implement compliance checks (Checkov), automate Terraform CI/CD deployments in Azure DevOps, and manage Terraform artifacts. - Manage Kubernetes clusters and workloads, including deployments, scaling, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and improve Infrastructure as Code and automation for repeatable environments.
- Enhance observability (logging, metrics, alerting) and participate in incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Support CI/CD and release processes to improve delivery speed and platform stability.
- Apply security best practices (access control, secrets management, patching, compliance-ready configurations).
- Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to translate requirements into infrastructure solutions., * Assist with the creation of Terraform Modules based on existing CDK Constructs
- Assist with the creation of compliance mechanisms (i.e. Checkov custom checks) to validate Terraform based on tailored security guidelines
- Assist with the automation and maintenance of Terraform test deployments against AWS using CI/CD (Azure DevOps)
- Maintenance of Terraform Artifact deployments
Requirements
- AWS hands-on experience in production environments.
- Kubernetes operations experience (cluster management and workload troubleshooting).
- Infrastructure automation/IaC (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm) and scripting.
- Linux fundamentals, networking basics, and containerization (Docker).
- Monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch).
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills in a cross-functional setting., * Terraform and CDK Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform, including module design, state management, and remote backends
- AWS Knowledge: Deep understanding of AWS services, IAM policies, networking, and security configurations
- Security Focus: Experience implementing hardened configurations and security controls in cloud infrastructure
- Programming experience: Medior to senior Python experience. Good to have Typescript knowledge
- DevOps Tooling: Familiarity with Azure devops, CI/CD on Azure Devops, and infrastructure automation
- IaC Testing: Experience with infrastructure testing tools (e.g., Terratest, Checkov)
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong ability to work across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly
