Job description
Are you a test automation engineer who loves building things from scratch - not just running scripts? Our client is modernizing a complex, regulated workflow end-to-end, and they need sharp automation talent who can scale quality across a fast-moving technology environment. This is a hands-on role where your frameworks, eval harnesses, and quality gates will directly determine how safely and quickly new features reach users. If you thrive at the intersection of rigorous engineering, AI-assisted development, and real-world impact, this is your next role., * Design and own the end-to-end test automation strategy - including API/integration tests, regression suites in CI/CD, and end-to-end coverage for complex, multi-system workflows.
- Build and maintain test frameworks and tooling that other developers actually use - fixtures, synthetic data, environment seeding, and contract tests for third-party integrations.
- Develop evaluation harnesses for AI/LLM features, including golden datasets, eval suites, regression detection for prompt and model changes, and automated pass/fail quality gates.
- Partner with QA and operations teams to convert manual UAT processes into automated coverage, focusing human review where it adds the most value.
- Define quality gates for feature releases and verify compliance-critical behavior including data integrity, audit trails, and timing requirements across systems.
Requirements
- 6+ years in software engineering with at least 4 focused on SDET/test automation work; strong coding skills in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
- Proven experience building test frameworks from scratch - API testing (Postman, pytest, REST-assured), UI/E2E (Playwright or Cypress), and CI/CD integration (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Daily, demonstrable use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) as a core part of your workflow - not just occasional autocomplete.
- Experience testing complex, multi-system integrations including mocking, contract testing, and test data management across third-party services.
- Mortgage technology experience strongly preferred (LOS platforms, AUS, disclosure/doc systems, or other regulated fintech); LLM/ML evaluation experience is a plus.
