Job description

We are seeking a Network / System Engineer III to join our dynamic team supporting Real Time Communications 2nd level Applications Automation Operations for a financial services client. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Linux, Java-based application support, SQL databases, and automation scripting with Python and PowerShell and a proven ability to stabilize production systems, optimize performance, and execute reliable deployments, patching, and recovery., * Maintain and troubleshoot automation for Java applications hosted on Linux-based servers, including web, application, and database tiers.

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and PowerShell.
  • Install, configure, and deploy software applications with adherence to change and incident processes.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and troubleshoot issues to resolution.
  • Perform patching, services reset, performance optimization, backup, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Create and maintain accurate system and operations documentation.
  • Coordinate with database, network, voice, and storage teams to remediate issues.
  • Work within the enterprise ticketing system (Remedy) to manage incidents and service requests.
  • Escalate issues to appropriate teams and vendors with clear impact articulation.
  • Execute housekeeping tasks including daily health checks, Splunk dashboard monitoring, and operational email triage.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation. Support 2nd shift on weekdays and 1st shift on weekends as required.
  • Provide concise communications and status updates to leadership.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Linux administration and support for Java applications and SQL databases.
  • Strong skills in SQL, including writing queries and performing database-related troubleshooting.
  • Automation scripting with Python and PowerShell.
  • Incident management, enterprise ticketing experience (Remedy), and end user support services.
  • Ability to describe issues, escalate appropriately, and communicate impact to users and leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with Splunk dashboards and initiating corrective actions.
  • 5-8 years of experience in application support encompassing Java and SQL.

Preferred Skills:

  • Dynatrace performance engineering analysis.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution in enterprise environments.
