TEKsystems is seeking motivated and reliable Telecommunications Technicians to support a large-scale, fast-paced infrastructure project in Fort Wayne. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for individuals looking to build or grow a career in telecommunications, low-voltage, and network infrastructure.
This opportunity offers consistent hours (50-hour work weeks), strong earning potential, and a clear path toward long-term employment with one of the nation's leading technology workforce providers., As a Telecommunications Technician, you will play a key role in building and maintaining critical infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing and routing low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic as applicable)
- Performing rack and stack of network equipment (routers, switches, patch panels)
- Supporting telecommunications system installations and upgrades
- Troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues
- Testing and verifying cable installations to industry standards
- Assisting with device configuration and system setup (VoIP, PBX, etc.)
- Maintaining clean and organized job sites and documentation

Requirements

- Basic knowledge of cabling, networking equipment, or electronics
- Ability to use hand tools and work in a physical, hands-on environment
- Reliable transportation and strong punctuality
- Solid work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, * Previous experience in telecom, construction, or low-voltage installation
- Familiarity with:
- Cable installation and termination
- Network hardware (routers, switches)
- VoIP or PBX systems
- Technical certifications (nice to have, not required)

Full-Time Contract (6 Months - Potential for Extension or Permanent Hire)

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
