Job description
The Network Administration shall ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of critical network infrastructure and services. Here are the duties for this role, * Design, implement, and manage network systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Monitor, manage and optimize LAN/WAN performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain firewalls, routing/switching, ACLs, segmentation, QoS, and network access control (NAC).
- Ensure DNS/DHCP integrity, IPAM updates, and certificate lifecycle coordination.
- Ensure network security by implementing and maintaining security protocols and measures. Patch network devices, maintain standardized configs, backup/restore device configurations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
- Administer and manage Cisco TACACS Service and Network Access Control and endpoint posture assessment and remediation.
- Manage and maintain server infrastructure (physical, virtual, cloud (Azure), networks, and other IT infrastructure components.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Implement security measures to protect data and systems.
- Automate repetitive tasks with scripting (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, etc.) Lead or perform OS patching and upgrades (Windows Server, RHEL, CentOS, etc.)
- Manage enterprise directory services (Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta, etc.)
Requirements
Do you have experience in Wireless networking?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * 5+ years in enterprise networking (Cisco/Palo Alto/Juniper preferred).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Palo Alto Networks CNSA, CompTIA Network+) are a plus.
- Expertise in routing/switching (BGP/OSPF), firewalls, VPN, wireless, NAC, DNS/DHCP/IPAM.
- Experience with network monitoring/observability tools and config management.
- Certifications (preferred): CCNA/CCNP, Network+, PCNSE (if Palo Alto), Azure Fundamentals.
- Strong documentation, incident response, and change management discipline.
Network Infrastructure Management: The role demands a deep understanding and experience in managing both Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) services.
Cloud Services Management: Expertise in overseeing Microsoft Azure Cloud Services is essential. This involves managing resources like the FirstNet.gov website and maintaining the security and performance of FirstNet's online presence.
Network Monitoring Tools: Proficiency in utilizing various network tools to monitor the health, performance, and security posture of internal IT network and systems is crucial. This proactive monitoring helps prevent service disruptions and ensures efficient network operations.
Technical Competency: Experience with a wide range of infrastructure devices and tools. This includes managing network services, overseeing cloud services, and utilizing network monitoring tools.
Support for Public Safety Operations: Mission-critical ability to ensure effective management of network infrastructure in support of FirstNet's public safety operations and prevent delays or failures in network services.
