Job description

We are looking for a pro-active Data Analyst to join a dynamic team working on critical projects for a leading European Transmission System Operator (TSO). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the security and sustainability of the electricity supply by enhancing the transparency and impact of our data.

You will be embedded within the 'Scenarios, Market & Adequacy analysis' team, working side-by-side with internal staff and other contingent workers. Your primary mission will be to support the team in developing clear, insightful, and impactful visuals from complex simulation data, making our analyses more accessible to stakeholders and the public., * Data Architecture: Improve data management processes, including setting up data pipelines and consolidating historical data into a data warehouse.

  • Data Analysis & Exploration: Explore large datasets derived from economic dispatch simulations (e.g., ANTARES) to identify key trends and inconsistencies.
  • Visualization & Storytelling: Create and iterate upon dynamic, insightful visuals (using PowerBI and/or React.js) that translate complex simulation outputs into actionable intelligence.
  • Benchmarking: Analyze and benchmark visualizations from other major industry studies (e.g., ERAA, TYNDP) to inform best practices.
  • Tool Development: Write and update Python scripts to process data, analyze outputs, and identify inconsistencies in input/output data.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present your work to key stakeholders and management, iterating on the visuals to ensure they fulfill their intended purpose. Propose user-friendly interfaces for dynamically exploring data.

Requirements

We are looking for a consultant who is not just technically proficient but also genuinely interested in the challenges of the electricity market.

Hard Skills (Must-Have):

  • Python (Essential): Extensive experience with Python for data mining, gathering, and processing. You must be comfortable working within an existing toolchain.
  • PowerBI (Essential): Proven ability to create complex, insightful, and impactful dashboards and visuals. You will be building upon existing tools.

Hard Skills (Nice-to-Have):

  • React.js: Knowledge of React.js for specific visualization projects is a significant plus.
  • ANTARES / Economic Dispatch Tools: Familiarity with the ANTARES simulator (developed by RTE) or other market simulation solvers is highly valued. A general knowledge of energy systems is a minimum requirement.

Soft Skills:

  • Analytical Mind: You enjoy diving into data and critically analyzing results to identify key trends.
  • Proactive & Independent: Ability to work independently and drive projects forward, while also being a strong team player.
  • Innovative & Curious: You have a genuine interest in the energy transition and a desire to deliver high-quality tools that improve team functioning.
  • Language Skills: Good level of Dutch and/or French, and English is required.
