Job description

  • Utilize and develop advanced data preparation tools to support material parameter and process development engineers
  • Define and develop software requirements for hatching and scanning parameters to maximize the potential of Nikon SLM next-generation machines
  • Collaborate with Nikon SLM Solutions' software partners, engineers, and scientists in an international environment to enhance software products for our customers
  • Provide support for internal and external customers in early benchmarking of new materials and data preparation products
  • Innovate and refine custom toolpath strategies to significantly improve material performance using Nikon SLM next-generation machines
  • Plan, conduct, and analyze experiments using Nikon SLM next-generation machines, employing statistical tools for data analysis
  • Prepare comprehensive reports of experimental results for internal use and create external white papers and conference presentations
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to address customer needs related to data preparation and material parameter development
  • Define future requirements for next-generation LPBF machine products within the Nikon SLM Solutions family with a focus on data preparation, scanning strategies and tool pathing, but not limited to this field
  • Key SME for requirements definition and prototype testing in the field of data preparation, scan strategies, tool pathing and the allocation of optics for future Nikon SLM Solutions product and first prototype testing

Requirements

  • Master's or Equivalent Certification in Engineering Field or Materials Science (e.g. Mechanical, Aerospace, Software) with a focus on LPBF
  • Professional experience in data preparation for LPBF additive manufacturing (ideally around 3+ years), including hands-on work with scan strategies and build processors
  • Good understanding of how scanning parameters influence part quality and build performance
  • Experience documenting technical concepts, system or functional requirements, or contributing to scientific or technical publications
  • Familiarity with programming
  • Familiarity with design of experiments and statistical analysis
  • Experience supporting or contributing to material parameter development and testing during the qualification process, for benchmark part production and machine acceptance tests
