Velto Renewables operates a growing portfolio of photovoltaic assets that generate large volumes of operational and technical data. The System & Information Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that enables our Asset Management team to transform raw data into actionable insights for performance optimisation, predictive maintenance, and strategic decision-making, as well as leading the deployment and continuous improvement of the company's digital management tool., * Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from multiple sources (SCADA, inverters, meteorological stations, sensors, ERP, etc.).
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across all asset data streams.
- Build and maintain data warehouses/lakes optimized for analytical and reporting purposes.
- Lead the deployment and configuration of the company's new management tool (Lumina), acting as the main point of contact with IT solution providers and ensuring successful integration with existing systems.
- Oversee and ensure continuity of the cybersecurity work already initiated, implementing best practices and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Data Integration & Automation
- Integrate data from third-party O&M providers, monitoring platforms, and internal systems.
- Automate data collection, validation, and reporting workflows to reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.
- Implement API connections and real-time data processing where applicable.
- Drive the automation of recurring reporting processes, enabling self-service access to key performance data for Asset Management and other teams., * Work closely with Asset Managers, Performance Analysts, and external providers to understand data requirements and business needs.
- Support the development of dashboards, KPIs, and predictive models by providing clean, structured, and accessible datasets.
- Translate technical data into clear, decision-useful information for non-technical stakeholders.
Data Governance & Security
- Implement data governance best practices, including documentation, version control, and access management.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, etc.) and internal security improvement.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies in data engineering and renewable energy analytics.
- Propose and lead initiatives to improve data processing efficiency, storage optimisation, and advanced analytics capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a Data Engineer role, ideally within the renewable energy, utilities, or industrial IoT sector.
- Strong proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data storage or database technologies.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, or similar).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.).
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, etc.), and IoT data streams is highly desirable.
- Experience with API integrations and real-time data processing is a plus.
- Knowledge of renewable energy assets (PV, wind, etc.) and performance metrics (availability, PR, losses, etc.) is a strong advantage.
- Fluency in English; French., * Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business insights.
