Job description

Principal DevOps Engineer (DevOps Lead) at Roche is responsible for leading the DevOps function, designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-scale software systems, and driving continuous improvement of production operations., * Write high-quality, scalable software for the core stack.

  • Integrate the software stack with existing CI pipelines and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture that values technical excellence, support, and compassion for team members.
  • Advocate healthy DevSecOps practices within the Roche Engineering Community.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and at least 5 years in the software industry.
  • Strong scripting skills in shell, Python, Ruby, or similar languages.
  • Experience leading DevOps teams and maturing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Expertise in DevSecOps areas such as build & release, internal tooling, and production operations.
  • Experience with Unix-based system administration, networking, and infrastructure-as-code (AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.).
  • Hands-on automation development using Chef or Ansible is desired.
  • Experience deploying or managing large-scale distributed Unix environments and participating in on-call rotations.
  • Familiarity with container platforms (Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes) and production monitoring/logging.
  • Prior NOC or SRE experience is a plus.
