Remote Backend Engineer - Commerce Platform

Your expertise will be instrumental in evolving our technology stack, driving innovation, and directly impacting Spotify's business growth., * Architect and implement highly scalable backend systems and robust data pipelines from concept to deployment, ensuring the right capabilities are delivered within Spotify's internal commerce platform

• Lead the design and development of critical features in our Java and Python backend services, contributing to a high-volume, low-latency environment
• Design, build, and optimize data pipelines, ensuring efficient and reliable data processing for our commerce insights and operational needs
• Drive operational excellence by championing best practices in monitoring, alerting, and incident response for our production systems
• Collaborate closely with talented engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams across Spotify to deliver impactful solutions for our users
• This role has on-call rotation

• 5+ years of working experience in a similar role
• Experienced building and scaling Java and/or Python backend services within a large-scale, cloud-native environment (e.g., Google Cloud Platform or equivalent)
• Experience of building and maintaining data pipelines
• Knowledge and practical experience with scalable database technologies like PostgreSQL
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong bias for action and a pragmatic approach to engineering challenges
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, comfortable driving technical discussions, presenting complex ideas, and working effectively with diverse stakeholders
• A self-driven, proactive engineer who thrives in a collaborative team environment and is committed to continuous improvement through feedback and shared learning
• Experience in e-commerce, financial engineering, or high-volume transaction processing domains is a bonus
