Kiewit Technology Group's Transformation Acceleration Group (TAG) is hiring a Technical Lead to help design and deliver AI-powered enterprise applications across Kiewit's district portfolio. This role is ideal for a developer who has outgrown pure implementation and is ready to think at the systems level - shaping how applications are structured, how they integrate, and how AI can be leveraged to accelerate delivery. You'll work alongside senior architects while building your own architectural instincts through hands-on design and mentorship., * Help design, build, and optimize AI-systems and solutions that advance our digital capabilities and create real value for districts.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify district opportunities and AI use cases.
- Translate abstract business problems into concrete, innovative AI solutions.
- Drive code quality, robust architecture, and documentation within technical teams.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing, peer reviews, and upskilling within the AI team.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Stay current on Azure services, AI tooling, and industry patterns - and share learnings with the team
- Help evaluate third-party tools and services for fit within Kiewit's enterprise constraints

- Pair regularly with senior architects on design sessions, trade-off analysis, and stakeholder communication
- Participate in TAG's architecture review board and contribute to enterprise patterns library

Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in AI engineering and 10+ years of overall work experience.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices including source control, CI/CD, and automated testing
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, and cloud-native architecture
- Experience with Azure or AWS cloud services (compute, identity, networking, storage)
- Proficiency in at least two of: React/TypeScript, Python, C#/.NET
- Demonstrated curiosity about AI/ML: prompt engineering, LLM integration, agent patterns, or model evaluation
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills, with a willingness to share ideas and collaborate.
- Growth mindset - eagerness to learn from senior architects and continuously expand your skills, * Experience designing multi-service architectures (microservices, event-driven, or modular monolith patterns)
- Familiarity with Azure Container Apps, Entra ID, Bicep, and API Management
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor)
- Exposure to agentic AI patterns: tool use, multi-agent orchestration, function calling
- Azure certifications (AZ-204, AZ-305) or equivalent cloud architecture training
- Experience in construction technology, industrial systems, or regulated #LI-AK1, * Regular, reliable attendance
