Job description

Provide Level 1 operational support for Linux server environments including RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu, and CentOS.

Monitor server health, system alerts, and infrastructure events using enterprise monitoring tools.

Perform routine system administration tasks including user management, file system maintenance, service checks, and log analysis.

Assist in Linux OS installation, configuration, patching, and basic hardening activities following established procedures.

Troubleshoot and resolve basic operating system, application, and infrastructure issues within defined SLAs.

Handle incident, service request, and change management activities through ticket management systems.

Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 support teams with proper documentation and troubleshooting details.

Support backup monitoring, restoration validation, and scheduled maintenance activities.

Assist with antivirus, security compliance, and vulnerability remediation activities.

Perform routine checks on storage, file systems, NFS/CIFS shares, SFTP services, and server resources.

Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, knowledge base articles, and support runbooks.

Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and customers during issue resolution and maintenance activities.

Participate in shift operations and support coverage as required.

Requirements

Demonstrate willingness to cross-train and support other technology domains such as Wintel, Backup, Storage, and Cloud platforms.

Understanding of Linux file systems, file permissions, user/group administration, and process management.

Familiarity with basic Linux commands and troubleshooting techniques.

Exposure to virtualization technologies such as VMware and virtual machine management.

Experience working with ticketing systems and IT service management processes.

Basic knowledge of shell scripting and automation concepts.

It will be rotational shifts (24x7 operations), hence there would be weekend shifts as well.

Location is Cincinnati

Technical Skills:

RHCSA certification preferred; candidates pursuing Linux certifications are encouraged to apply.

Strong willingness to learn and cross-skill in Wintel, Backup, Storage, Cloud, or other infrastructure technologies.
