L3Harris is currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Greenville, TX facility and offers a 9/80 schedule. The successful candidate will split their time between two roles. As the Deputy Release Train Engineer (RTE) the engineer will support the Senior RTE/Program Execution Lead in coordinating and managing the Product Interval (PI) planning, execution, and tracking of multiple software teams in a scaled agile environment. In the second role, the engineer will serve as the agile product owner for one of software teams within the scaled agile environment.
Essential Functions:
Must obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Lead software engineering efforts within an agile environment, drawing on 6+ years of technical and leadership experience in roles such as Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Agile Coach, and Software Execution Lead.
Manage and refine product backlogs by prioritizing work across competing demands, coordinating dependencies, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders while advocating for customer value and team needs.
Curate, interpret, and leverage key data sets such as burn-down charts and velocity metrics to improve value flow, drive continuous improvement, and translate lessons learned into actionable enhancements.
Identify, mitigate, and resolve risks and cross-team dependencies across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure delivery predictability and alignment.
Facilitate and coach teams through the preparation, leadership, and execution of PI Planning events, Scrum ceremonies, and Agile sync meetings to build alignment and maintain consistent execution rhythm., L3Harris Technologies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. Requirements
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
6+ years of software engineering experience including leadership roles developing and managing software within an agile environment. Desired prior roles include Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master, Product Owner, agile coach, and software execution lead.
Prior experience managing product backlogs, prioritizing effort within an environment of competing or conflicting priorities, coordinating and managing dependencies, effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical stake holders and advocating both for the customer and the team.
Experience curating and analyzing data sets (e.g. burn-down, velocity) to improve value flow, foster a culture of continuous improvement/process innovation and to leverage lessons learned.
Experience recognizing, resolving, and mitigating risks and dependencies across multiple engineering teams, and multiple engineering disciplines.
Strong facilitation and coaching skills for preparing, leading, and executing PI events, and Sync meetings.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Prior hands-on Aerospace/DoD software development experience LINUX using high level languages such as C/C++ or JAVA and/or scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
Experience with agile tools such as Jira, and Confluence is highly preferred. Experience with Excel Power Query and/or Power BI is highly preferred.
Able to communicate effectively and work across organizational boundaries and with various levels of management and customer interaction.
Able to actively listen, advocate for, and liaise between organizations with competing priorities, needs, and conflicting schedules.
SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification is highly preferred.
Active U.S. DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
