Job description

We are in search of a Network Engineer for our Leidos engineering capability. The successful Network Engineer will have a full understanding of the principles of systems engineering, will have prior experience as a Network Engineer involving accepting and integrating deliveries from suppliers.

Using your experience in Network Engineering, you will be responsible for working with customers and suppliers to execute Systems Engineering activities across the full lifecycle.

As a Network Engineer in Leidos you will be working on one of our key programs delivering support on a complex and ever changing MOD system. You will be working on a system that is directly involved in ensuring the National Security of the UK.

What you will do

Your primary responsibility will be to manage and maintain a small but complex network which incorporates multiple technologies with a focus on security and stability. The actual work you will perform consists of a blend of operational support alongside specific project activity. Occasional travel to other Leidos and customer sites may be required. Keeping an eye on the technology landscape is essential too - identification of new and relevant technologies to solve problems and make improvements is part of the job.

Requirements

  • Current clearance, or willingness to go through the DV clearance process.

  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience as well as managing project delivery and network re-design.

  • CCNP or equivalent experience.

  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders from multiple organisations, from both a technical and non-technical viewpoint.

  • Experience in managing the workloads of others.

It would be nice if you had:

  • Familiarity with Firewall technologies to include Cisco ASA and Palo Alto.

  • Experience with configuring and maintenance of Cisco Call Manager.

  • Experience in mentoring of less experienced staff members.

  • Experience in leading a small team of engineers.

  • Working knowledge of radio technologies, in particular ROIP.

  • Experience of working with industry partners and platform integrators to support platform integration and installation.

Location: This role will be based in Herefordshire, with very occasional travel to other sites.
