Job description
Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently looking for a Data Architect on a contract basis. You will be working on a high-profile bespoke software solution entering Phase 2 of design, where you will align project-specific data architecture with enterprise-wide standards, setting the vision for the use of data., * Reviewing and analysing source data (Digital Media and Communications Data), defining mapping and transformation with business and technical representatives
- Producing data mapping documents and a data dictionary for the software development team
- Reviewing and assessing the existing document data model against new application development features
- Designing the approach to fulfil data model gaps, extending to work with POLE and assessing suitability of IES
- Producing and presenting a 'to-be' logical data model for project team discussions
- Defining new Elasticsearch indexes and document data models supporting new and existing indexes
- Providing implementation suggestions for how indexes support Elasticsearch queries for application development
- Drafting activities needed to develop the 'to-be' state of Elasticsearch indexes and document data models
- Agreeing on Elasticsearch index delivery approach in an Agile environment
- Collaborating with project teams and serving as the main point of contact for data-related queries
Requirements
- Experience in designing Elasticsearch document data models (indices, documents, fields)
- Experience working with large datasets in the realms of terabytes (including extracting, ingesting, mapping, transforming data)
Desirable Skills:
- Policing domain knowledge, particularly around the POLE data model
- Experience working with the UKIC Information Exchange Standard (IES)
