Job description

  • Develop and maintain backend microservices using TypeScript (Node.js/NestJS) in an event-driven architecture
  • Build and support integrations that ingest, enrich, and distribute patient data from external EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
  • Work with healthcare data standards such as FHIR R4 and platforms like Aidbox FHIR Server
  • Design and implement APIs leveraging REST, SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect
  • Write and optimize PostgreSQL queries, schemas, and data model
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and agile ceremonies (Scrum / SAFe)
  • Monitor system performance with tools like Datadog and support troubleshooting in production
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and Architecture teams to deliver features supporting clinical data workflows

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Foundational experience with JavaScript or TypeScript, particularly in backend or API development
  • Understanding of REST APIs, relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), and distributed/event-driven systems
  • Experience working in a team-based, agile development environment
  • Familiarity with Git version control and Linux/containerized environments
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a collaborative setting

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with NestJS, Kafka, or Kubernetes
  • Exposure to healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, X12, NCPDP)
  • Familiarity with EHR integrations and healthcare data environments
  • Exposure to frontend frameworks (React or Angular) for occasional UI contributions
  • Experience working in corporate or large-scale development environments
  • Basic familiarity with AI-assisted development tools or code generation tools
  • Knowledge of HIPAA/PHI handling and compliance standards
  • Experience with event-driven or CQRS architectures
  • Experience in Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices

$86,600 - $144,400
