Job description
The Level 2 Network Administrator provides advanced network monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident remediation in a 24×7 NOC environment. This role handles escalations from Level 1, performs deeper network diagnostics, and ensures reliability of network infrastructure across multiple locations. This position supports the Cyber Backup environment and works under the guidance of the Level 3 Network Lead., Network Administration
- Performs advanced monitoring and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
- Supports network configuration tasks such as interface changes, VLAN updates, and routing adjustments (as permitted by credential scope).
Advanced Troubleshooting
- Diagnoses and resolves complex network connectivity issues, consistent with the document's language:
"Diagnoses and resolves complex issues across host environments and connectivity layers."
- Escalates unresolved issues to the Level 3 Network Lead.
Monitoring & Proactive Response
- Performs daily monitoring of network devices, bandwidth, link health, and alerts.
- Initiates proactive remediation to prevent outages or performance degradation.
Incident Remediation
- Owns Level 2 network tickets through resolution, including root cause identification.
- Documents findings and contributes to operational recommendations.
Operational Reporting
- Provides network evaluation reports and contributes to NOC operational improvements.
Documentation & Compliance
- Updates network configuration records, diagrams, and device inventories.
- Ensures compliance with credential separation and access control policies.
Knowledge Transfer
- Creates runbooks and how-to guides for Level 1 analysts.
- Provides training on network triage procedures.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination.
- Strong experience with network troubleshooting and monitoring tools.
- Ability to support 24×7 operations and rotating shifts.
- U.S. Citizenship and U.S. residency required.
Benefits & conditions
Shift 1: Monday - Friday 7am - 4pm EST
Shift 2: Monday - Friday 3pm - 12am EST
Shift 3: Monday - Friday 11pm - 8am EST
Weekend Shift 1: Saturday & Sunday - 7am - 8pm EST
Weekend Shift 2: Saturday & Sunday - 7pm - 8am EST
- Weekend shifts will also include 16 additional hours during the week.
