Job description
This position is responsible for analyzing the requirements of a federal agency's applications and capabilities to provide an underlying foundation within the cloud to properly host and support those services. The Cloud Architect will work with other Cloud Engineers and Cloud Security personnel to define the cloud infrastructure, networking, and deployment of agency systems. This role manages the architecture of an organization's cloud environment to ensure the scalability, agility, optimization, security, integration, and interoperability of cloud-deployed capabilities., * Analyze application and capability requirements to design and deploy cloud-based solutions.
- Manage the architecture of the organization's cloud environment, focusing on scalability, security, and optimization.
- Work with Cloud Engineers and Cloud Security personnel to define cloud infrastructure and networking.
- Oversee the deployment of agency systems within the cloud environment.
- Ensure the integration, compliance, and interoperability of cloud-deployed capabilities.
Requirements
Experience: 12 years of experience are required. The role may involve supervisory or management experience.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in cloud architecture design, including networking, scalability, and security.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, with a preference for Azure.
- Knowledge of cloud-native technologies like containerization, Kubernetes, and serverless computing.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure, including virtualization, storage, networking, and load balancing.
- Familiarity with cloud management and Infrastructure/Configuration as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including encryption and least privilege principles.
- Experience with DevSecOps methodologies and CI/CD practices.
- Awareness of Microservice and Service-Oriented Architecture patterns.
- Experience with cloud observability toolsets and version control systems like Git.
- Basic understanding of Linux administration and programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#.
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
Certifications: Candidates must provide a copy of an active certification for one of the following: AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert. An active CASP+ certification is also required.
