Job Summary Production Support Java Software Developers contribute directly to the reliability, capability, and efficiency of core, enterprise public sector business operations. The support and maintenance portfolio includes a variety of critical, ongoing systems-ranging from processing monthly financial transactions through banking institutions and enhancing online member services, to re-engineering legacy client-server applications into modern intranet web applications.

As a member of a dedicated Production Support Team, your focus will be on ensuring system uptime, diagnosing complex production issues, and deploying critical patches and enhancements outside of rigid sprint cycles. You will work closely with a team of 4-7 technical peers, guided by technology leaders and an experienced Technical Lead. The deployment pipeline, issue tracking, and support methodologies are rooted in modern DevOps concepts and managed via Atlassian Jira.

Key Responsibilities Engineers operate as full-stack generalists across the entire application stack to troubleshoot, patch, and optimize systems:

  • Automated Testing & QA: Write and maintain test scripts to safeguard system stability and prevent regressions.
  • User Interface & Controller Logic: Refine front-end views and manage application flow.
  • Back-End Services & Database Operations: Tune database queries, fix APIs, and ensure end-to-end data integrity.

Work History Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of dedicated experience developing Java web applications or web services.
  • Familiarity with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) / Test-Driven Development (TDD); knowledge of Cucumber is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with all facets of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), preferably within Agile/Scrum or modern DevOps frameworks.
  • Experience in systems analysis, application design, quality assurance, and the coordination of multiple enterprise systems is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and experience in software vulnerability remediation.
  • Applied knowledge of version control, configuration management, and continuous integration (CI/CD).
