Cash Application Specialist

This Cash Applications Specialist is responsible for accurately applying incoming payments to customer accounts, maintaining up-to-date records, and proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.

• Provides valuable opportunities to collaborate with experienced colleagues, * Manage daily posting of cash receipts across multiple payment channels, including billing systems, credit cards, lockbox, checks, ACH, and wires
• Research and clear unapplied cash balances, ensuring accurate allocation and coordinating with internal teams when needed
• Maintain organized audit-ready documentation, including remittances, check copies, and daily treasury reporting
• Process returned payments (NSFs) and perform necessary account adjustments and reversals
• Record customer refunds and correct misapplied payments or inter-account transfers
• Investigate and resolve lockbox discrepancies and exceptions
• Partner with Treasury and Collections to address cash application issues and improve processes
• Communicate directly with customers to resolve payment discrepancies and account concerns

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; strong numerical skills considered in lieu of formal education
• Familiarity with banking practices, online platforms, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), and accounts receivable processes, with solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
• At least 2 years of experience in cash applications and customer service; Tower system experience is a plus
