Under the supervision of the IT Manager and the lead of the Phoenix Systems Support (PSS) Team, provide a variety of computing technical support and services to Phoenix staff, faculty, and affiliates of the Entomology & Nematology, Plant Pathology departments, and Programs within. The incumbent is expected to acquire the skills and knowledge to perform more advanced work following an agreed upon time in position, through defined on-the-job training and development planning. Implement and maintain security configurations to support Campus Cybersecurity guidelines. Maintain incident and service request management documentation., * 50% - Client & Systems Support
- 25% - Instructional Technology Technician and Multimedia Database Curator
- 20% - Special Projects and Backup Assignments
- 5% - Bioinformatics Research and UNIX/LINUX Systems Support
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Minimum of 3 years of professional IT support providing great Customer Service in a high-tempo busy environment with frequent interruptions. Work experience to include independently diagnosing and resolving complex issues involving various hardware, networks (various VLANs/Firewalls), Microsoft Active Directory, software conflicts, failures, errors, and incompatibilities in a timely manner with non-warrantied computing hardware.
- Experience learning and applying various technological solutions without formal training, standard operating procedures, documentation or paid enterprise solutions.
- Experience demonstrating high level of organization, consistent, accurate and prompt time management, ability to prioritize various concurrent projects while being highly productive. Experience working and completing tasks across multiple physical locations on a daily basis.
- Experience with consistent high-performing on-site work, installing, configuring, securing, troubleshooting and managing various server equipment, client hardware, services and applications across Windows, Linux, Mac platforms in a heterogeneous networked and physical environment to include outdoor field installation.
- Experience with consistent high-level proficient work as a technical subject matter expertise, providing management with viable solutions and successfully executing them independently and with a team. Experience consistently maintaining complete and accurate system hardware, software licensing, network and work records.
- Ability to demonstrate consistent, professional, high-quality performance and attention to detail., * Consistent professional IT work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and effective application of Departmental, UC, Federal and State communication, IT security policies and procedures.
- Proficient with Bigfix, Infoblox, Microsoft Active Directory, HyperV, Powershell, SCCM, WSUS.
- Proficient with Cloud/Hybrid Cloud hosting technologies like: Office365, Box.com, Azure, AWS, Dropbox, various Google Apps, Aggie Video.
- Proficient with a variety of Content Management Systems (CMS) such as: Concrete5, WordPress, UC Davis SiteFarm, UC Davis Canvas, Kaltura, UC ANR Sitebuider, Plone, and Drupal., * Chemicals, dust, gases, or fumes - Never 0 Hours
