Job description
State Street is seeking a Managing Director, Head of Technology, Wealth Services reporting to the Global Head of Technology / COO, Wealth Services. This role is responsible for defining and executing the technology strategy, architecture, and delivery of State Street's Wealth Custody & Clearing platform, including integration with third-party custody and clearing providers. The role is responsible for modernizing and scaling technology capabilities across custody, clearing, advisor solutions, and client platforms through a cloud-native, API-first approach.

This role is responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and compliant technology solutions that support client onboarding, transaction processing, advisor services, and strategic partner integrations. The position is critical to enabling business growth and delivering differentiated capabilities to institutional and RIA clients.
What you will be responsible for
As a Managing Director, you will:
- Define and execute the Wealth Services technology strategy aligned with business and enterprise objectives.
- Lead the architecture and development of a scalable, cloud-native platform supporting account opening, trading, clearing, settlement, custody, and reporting.
- Drive API-first and event-driven architectures to enable seamless integration and real-time processing.
- Lead integrations with third-party clearing and custody providers, including Apex.
- Modernize core platform capabilities, including transaction processing, portfolio accounting, compliance, and digital client platforms.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including SEC, FINRA, AML, KYC, and OFAC standards.
- Advance the use of AI, automation, and analytics to improve operational efficiency, risk oversight, and client experience.
- Lead a global engineering organization with accountability for delivery, reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Partner with Product, Operations, Risk, and external vendors to deliver enterprise-wide solutions.
- Manage technology investments, vendor relationships, and cost optimization initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing global technology teams.
- Deep expertise in wealth management, custody, clearing, brokerage, or related financial services platforms.
- Experience leading large-scale platform modernization and cloud transformation programs.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and risk management requirements.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and align technology investments with business outcomes., * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of technology leadership experience in wealth management, custody, clearing, brokerage, or financial services platforms.
- Demonstrated success delivering large-scale platform transformations and complex integrations.
- Expertise in cloud architecture, APIs, distributed systems and cybersecurity.
- Experience integrating third-party books and records platforms such as Apex Clearing.
Preferred Experience
- Experience leading global teams across multiple regions
- Managing strategic vendor and partner relationships.
- Supporting large-scale client onboarding or platform migration programs.
- Experience with introducing broker-dealer operating models.
Work Requirements

Benefits & conditions
$170,000 - $282,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
