Job description

We are seeking an experienced Developer to take ownership of the design, development, and evolution of business-critical systems across our internal systems from within our small IT team.

This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, requiring a proactive individual who can define architecture, drive modernisation, and influence how technology is used to support business growth.

You will play a key role in shaping our systems landscape, balancing the enhancement of existing platforms with a focus of replacing legacy system with the introduction of modern technologies and improved development practices., Technical Leadership

  • Own the technical architecture and design of new and existing systems
  • Establish and enforce development standards, patterns, and best practices
  • Lead and drive system modernisation, reducing technical debt and improving maintainability

Development & Delivery

  • Design and deliver robust, scalable solutions for complex business requirements
  • Take accountability for the quality and performance of delivered systems
  • Handle complex troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system optimisation

Team Contribution & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other developers to solve technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, contributing to shared standards and continuous improvement
  • Actively share knowledge and support colleagues to strengthen overall team capability

Stakeholder & Project Ownership

  • Contribute to the team's role as the primary technical point of contact for key business stakeholders
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Lead technical decision-making across projects, balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive adoption of modern development practices including version control, structured release processes, and testing standards
  • Introduce and improve deployment, documentation, and change management processes
  • Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement across systems and workflows

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Visual Basic?, * Strong experience with Microsoft development technologies, including C#, .NET, and web-based frameworks (e.g. ASP.NET, Blazor)

  • Experience working with legacy systems and other languages (e.g. WinForms, VB.Net, Delphi) and leading their modernisation
  • Strong SQL Server experience, including database design and performance optimisation
  • Experience designing and integrating systems across multiple platforms.

Desirable / Advantageous Skills

  • Experience transforming legacy systems into modern, maintainable architectures
  • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g. Syspro) within manufacturing or logistics environments
  • Experience designing data integrations and system interoperability
  • Understanding of operational systems such as barcode technologies and production workflows
  • Full clean driving licence
