Job description

  • Produce technical documentation including interface documents, requirements documents, design documents, SoW, and verification and validation documents.
  • Build, configure, integrate, and test systems.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of current products and systems.
  • Support service engineers with commissioning, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair activities.
  • Interpret requirements specifications and flow down system-level requirements.
  • Ensure conformance with CONOPS and architectural capability descriptions.
  • Produce technical proposals in response to customer opportunities and requirements.
  • Carry out installation, setting to work, and commissioning where required.
  • Work closely with project managers and take accountability for technical delivery within contract scope.
  • Perform fault diagnosis and trials at customer sites or on naval platforms in the UK and overseas.
  • Provide technical support to customers and service partners by telephone and email.
  • Deliver operator and maintenance training when required.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Visio?, This role is based on-site and applicants must live within commuting distance, have the right to work in the UK, eligible for UK Security Clearance and have a relevant experience in marine systems engineering.

This role is focused on the technical design, integration, build, configuration, testing, and support of complex navigation and bridge systems for naval combatants and maritime surveillance projects.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently as part of a small but highly capable team., * Experience in systems engineering for marine electronics systems.

  • Strong knowledge of radar systems, electronic chart systems, navigation aids, and steering control systems.
  • Experience building, configuring, and fault diagnosing PC-based systems and networks.
  • Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, SVN, MS Office, Visio, and JIRA.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team.

Desirable Experience

  • Configuration and testing of network infrastructure including switching, routing, encryption, security, optimisation, VLANs, and virtual machines.
  • Knowledge of cyber security standards and practices, especially for naval systems.
  • Familiarity with JSP440, JSP604, JSP490, NCSC guidance, NIST, or ISO 27001.
  • Knowledge of naval systems integration standards and practices.
  • Membership of a professional body such as IET or INCOSE., * HNC, degree, or equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a related technical field.
