Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Jacksonville, FL., Our client is looking for someone to join a collaborative and innovative team focused on building advanced software solutions that power real-time simulation environments used in training and certification. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to highly interactive systems that replicate real-world conditions, supporting critical learning and operational readiness., * Serve as a technical point of contact for clients, ensuring alignment with project requirements and assisting with issue resolution
- Design, develop, and enhance simulation software using C++
- Diagnose and resolve issues within the codebase using development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio
- Support system installation, testing, and validation efforts in collaboration with internal teams and clients
- Deliver software updates and partner with stakeholders on deployment and validation activities
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians within the project team
- Contribute to ongoing system maintenance and modernization initiatives
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve performance, efficiency, and overall product capabilities
Requirements
You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary group of engineers and product specialists, supporting client-driven initiatives while playing a key role in enhancing and evolving a rail simulation analysis platform. This is a fast-paced, impact-driven environment well suited for an experienced software engineer who enjoys complex problem-solving and driving technical improvements., * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- 3+ years of C++ development experience using Microsoft Visual Studio, including multi-threaded applications and exposure to MFC
- Experience contributing to software architecture and supporting projects from planning through deployment
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and object-oriented programming skills
- Excellent communication and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Quick learner with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Experience supporting hardware integration and real-time or simulation-based systems preferred
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with REST APIs/web services and Agile tools (Kanban/Trello)
- Exposure to GIS data, AI/ML, or big data concepts is a plus
- Background in simulation or transportation/rail environments preferred
- Familiarity with C++, MFC, Python, SQL, JavaScript, Qt UI, and scripting languages
- Strong multitasking abilities in fast-paced settings
- Leadership or mentorship experience
- Comfortable working within complex codebases
- Understanding of applied engineering or physics concepts (e.g., motion, force, energy)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
