- Project Engineering & Management
- Manage multiple overhead crane and material handling projects simultaneously
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules
- Coordinate engineering, fabrication, procurement, and installation teams
- Track project budgets and maintain profitability targets
- Provide consistent project updates to customers and internal stakeholders
- Support final commissioning, testing, and customer acceptance
- Estimating & Technical Sales Support
- Prepare accurate technical estimates and proposals for crane systems
- Conduct or review site surveys and gather field data
- Develop preliminary layouts, specifications, and system configurations
- Respond to RFPs and public bid opportunities
- Provide technical expertise to support the sales team
- Technical Oversight & Compliance
- Prepare and review submittals, drawings, specifications, and data sheets
- Review shop drawings for compliance with project requirements
- Troubleshoot field issues related to structural loads, rigging, and system integration
- Ensure compliance with CMAA, OSHA, ANSI, and applicable safety standards
- Provide technical guidance to installation crews
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Service Manager
- Maintain documentation in CRM and project management systems
- Participate in pipeline reviews and project meetings
- Support process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives, + Independently manage initial crane projects
- Deliver accurate technical estimates
- Establish strong cross-functional relationships
- First Year:
- Manage a full project load independently
- Deliver projects on time and within budget
- Achieve strong customer satisfaction outcomes
Requirements
Do you have a valid Fundamentals of Engineering license?, Do you have experience in Structural engineering practices?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering?, Level Crane Systems is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Engineer (Overhead Crane Systems) to manage engineered overhead crane and material handling projects from initial estimate through commissioning and customer acceptance. This hybrid office/field role combines mechanical engineering, structural analysis, industrial equipment expertise, and hands-on project management.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, enjoys solving real-world mechanical challenges, and is motivated to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget., * Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1-3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, industrial equipment, construction engineering, or HVAC engineering
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (budgeting, cost tracking, analysis)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Understanding of structural loads, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Preferred:
- Experience with overhead cranes, bridge cranes, gantry cranes, or material handling systems
- Experience with MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar tools
- CRM experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
- Bilingual English/Spanish, * 10-20 ton top-running bridge cranes
- Jib and gantry crane systems
- Crane modernizations and capacity upgrades
- Multi-crane warehouse installations
- Specialty industrial systems (explosion-proof, cleanroom, high-duty cycle)
