Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Network Engineer to support, implement, and maintain enterprise networking infrastructure across multiple office, warehouse, and remote locations. This individual will be responsible for designing, deploying, troubleshooting, and optimizing network environments with a strong focus on Cisco and Meraki technologies. Experience with Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid cloud connectivity is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate is customer-focused, enjoys working in the field as well as remotely, and can effectively partner with business stakeholders while maintaining secure, highly available network environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations.
- Deploy and support Cisco routing, switching, wireless, and security solutions.
- Manage and administer Cisco Meraki environments, including:
- MX Security Appliances
- MS Switching
- MR Wireless Access Points
- Meraki Dashboard administration
- Perform network upgrades, hardware refreshes, site expansions, and new office deployments.
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, and internet connectivity issues.
- Configure and support routing protocols, VLANs, QoS, ACLs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and VPN technologies.
- Assist with Azure networking, including virtual networks (VNets), VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, NSGs, Azure Firewall, and hybrid connectivity.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and improved reliability.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement and maintain secure network architectures.
- Document network configurations, diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
- Work closely with vendors, ISPs, and internal IT teams to resolve infrastructure issues.
- Participate in on-call support and occasional after-hours maintenance windows.
- Travel to company locations as needed for installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience.
- Strong experience supporting Cisco networking environments.
- Experience administering Cisco Meraki networks.
- Deep understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- Routing and Switching
- VLANs
- STP
- OSPF and/or BGP
- Wireless networking
- VPN technologies
- DHCP and DNS
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark and packet capture analysis.
- Experience working with firewalls and network security best practices.
- Ability to diagnose complex connectivity and performance issues.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to company locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure networking, including:
- Virtual Networks (VNets)
- VPN Gateway
- ExpressRoute
- Azure Firewall
- Network Security Groups (NSGs)
- Hybrid cloud networking
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9000 series switches.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds, PRTG, LogicMonitor, or similar.
- Experience supporting multi-site enterprise environments.
- Exposure to cloud networking and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Preferred Certifications
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist (preferred)
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Network Engineer Associate (preferred)
