The Lead Remote Operations Center (ROC) Operator provides shift leadership and operational oversight for Hanwha Convergence's 24/7 Remote Operations Center, supporting utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) assets across the United States.
Serving as the primary escalation point during assigned shifts, this role is responsible for maintaining fleet situational awareness, coordinating operational events and outage response, supporting operator development, and ensuring compliance with established operating procedures. The Lead Operator works closely with field personnel, customers, utilities, QSEs, vendors, and internal teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient asset operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Power Systems, Electrical Technology, Renewable Energy, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in renewable energy operations, power generation, system operations, utility operations, or a related field.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting SCADA systems in a real-time operational environment.
- Experience managing alarms, outages, switching activities, and operational events.
- Working knowledge of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced 24/7 operations environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software platforms.
Preferred
- Previous Lead Operator, Shift Lead, Control Room Operator, or supervisory experience.
- Experience coordinating with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, QSEs, field operations, and external stakeholders.
- Experience with OMS, Versify, or similar operational management platforms.
- Familiarity with NERC reliability standards, compliance requirements, and operating procedures.
- Experience supporting root cause analysis, event investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., seated at a desk) for extended periods while performing office-based work.
- Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via video conferencing.
- Ability to read, review, and analyze information presented on screens and in printed materials.
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, or lift light office materials or equipment (up to 20 pounds).
- Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform job-related tasks in a typical office and meeting environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, professional business environment and manage multiple priorities.
Schedule: 12-hour modified DuPont rotation (5-week cycle); includes holidays, weekends, and relief shifts
This position may require extended hours during major fleet events, severe weather conditions, or emergency situations.
