Job description
Our Oil & Gas Operator client is currently recruiting for the position of Oracle/SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA), based in Aberdeen., Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server and Oracle environments, including interfaces for SAP, OSIsoft PI, Azure, and Microsoft 365. Monitor database health, performance, and availability; perform tuning, indexing, and capacity planning. Manage server security, backup, restore, and disaster recovery as a managed service. Advise on database sizing and placement to optimise shared server infrastructure and reduce network bandwidth. Support PowerPlatform integration (PowerBI, Power Query) and collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams on deployments and change management. Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and ensure compliance with organisational standards.
Requirements
Dual-Engine Expertise: Looking for a DBA who has actively managed both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle environments.
Cloud & Modern Integration: Experience of extending on-premises databases to the cloud. You will know how to connect databases with Azure, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft PowerPlatform (specifically writing efficient queries for Power BI and Power Query).
Performance & Infrastructure Savvy: You should not just maintain tables but understand infrastructure. You will be someone skilled in hardware sizing, storage optimization, and minimizing network latency.
Ideally have experience of the upstream oil & gas industry and be based in Aberdeen., Proven Oracle and/or SQL Server administration experience in enterprise environments. Strong grasp of database security, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and migration management. E&P domain experience advantageous; familiarity with oil and gas operator environments and industry applications preferred.
