Job description
We are seeking a Mid-Level Windows/Linux Systems Administrator to support the IT and Cyber Security Division at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) in China Lake, CA. This role involves supporting system modernization efforts across classified and unclassified environments while working with a newly established team focused on research engineering projects. The ideal candidate brings 2-5 years of hands-on experience and strong troubleshooting capabilities. Key responsibilities include maintaining infrastructure for closed-loop lab environments, ensuring system availability, and supporting cybersecurity compliance initiatives., As an engineer on this team, you will work in a hands-on technical environment where your contributions directly support critical engineering and cybersecurity initiatives.

Requirements
- 2-5 years of hands-on Windows/Linux systems administration o Hands-on experience with system configuration, patching, and troubleshooting
Core Systems Administration Skills o User and group management o System patching and package management
System Hardening & Security Compliance o Experience applying security controls, STIGs, and maintaining alignment with DoD or enterprise cybersecurity requirements o Network configuration o Storage provisioning
Cybersecurity Support o Support vulnerability remediation, audit preparation, and incident response
Documentation & Collaboration o Contribute to system documentation, architecture updates, SOPs, and configuration baselines o Participate in sprint planning and cross-team coordination
Nice to have
Automation & Scripting o Experience with tools such as Ansible, Bash, or Python to automate system tasks Infrastructure & Integration
o Ability to integrate Linux systems into mixed environments, including Windows domains and NAS/SAN storage, * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
