Job description

Horizon3.ai is in search of a highly motivated and technically skilled Director of Analytics & Business Intelligence to lead a dynamic team of BI analysts and developers. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, strategic thinking, business partnership, and hands-on analytics expertise to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have experience building and scaling BI and analytics capabilities, developing executive-level dashboards and reporting frameworks, enabling self-service analytics, managing a high-performing team, and collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders. This role will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, and Operations teams.

The Director of Analytics and Business Intelligence will report to the VP of Product Management and will be responsible for building a scalable, intuitive, and AI-enabled analytics function that helps drive business decisions across the organization. This leader should bring practical knowledge of modern AI tools and AI-assisted analytics platforms to improve dashboard development, automate insights, reduce manual reporting, and help teams interact with data more effectively.

ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of BI analysts, analytics professionals, and BI developers, fostering a culture of high performance, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define and execute the BI and analytics roadmap aligned with company goals and business priorities.
  • Establish clear priorities, operating rhythms, and intake processes for analytics requests across the organization.
  • Drive standardization, scalability, and automation across dashboards, reporting, metrics definitions, and analytics workflows.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to business leaders by translating business questions into actionable insights, reporting solutions, and measurable outcomes.

Business Intelligence & Analytics Enablement

  • Deliver actionable insights through dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytical frameworks using tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or similar platforms.
  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards and business performance reporting that provide clear visibility into company KPIs, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with business units, including Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, and Operations, to understand their analytics needs and translate them into clear reporting and insight requirements.
  • Facilitate self-service analytics by creating intuitive dashboards, trusted datasets, documentation, and enablement resources that empower teams to make data-driven decisions.
  • Define and promote consistent metric definitions, reporting standards, and dashboard best practices across the company.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business performance through data analysis, trend identification, funnel analysis, segmentation, forecasting, and operational reporting.

AI-Assisted Analytics & Dashboard Innovation

  • Evaluate, implement, and promote AI-assisted analytics tools that improve the speed, quality, and accessibility of insights across the organization.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate dashboard development, automate recurring analysis, identify anomalies, summarize trends, and uncover hidden insights.
  • Partner with stakeholders to explore new ways of using AI to make analytics more intuitive, interactive, and scalable.
  • Develop best practices for responsible use of AI in analytics, including data accuracy, validation, governance, and human review.
  • Stay current on emerging AI capabilities in BI, analytics, data visualization, natural language querying, and automated insight generation.

Data Quality, Governance & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Data Engineering, Product, Engineering, and business teams to ensure reporting datasets are reliable, well-understood, and fit for business use.
  • Help define and maintain business metric definitions, data documentation, reporting standards, and governance practices.
  • Ensure dashboards and analytics outputs are accurate, consistent, secure, and aligned with stakeholder needs.
  • Identify data quality issues, reporting gaps, and process inefficiencies, and partner with the appropriate teams to resolve them.
  • Promote a strong data culture by helping teams understand, trust, and act on data., The Director of Data Analytics & Business Intelligence leads analytics functions, building models and dashboards while guiding a team. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, data analytics, or related roles.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership, management, or team lead capacity.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with modern BI and analytics platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, Mode, or similar tools.
  • Experience building executive dashboards, KPI frameworks, self-service analytics environments, and scalable reporting processes.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, metric definitions, dashboard design, analytics best practices, and data governance principles.
  • Experience partnering with data engineering or data platform teams to define analytics requirements, validate datasets, and ensure reporting reliability.
  • Familiarity with Git (version control) and CI/CD practices related to analytics workflows, dashboard deployment, data validation, and data pipeline reliability.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted analytics tools, natural language BI capabilities, automated insight generation, or AI tools that accelerate dashboarding and analysis.
  • Ability to translate complex business questions into clear analytical approaches, actionable insights, and compelling data stories.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with experience partnering across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, and Operations.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, forecasting, segmentation, or advanced analytics techniques is a plus.

  • Base salary range: $211,500 - $235,000. The exact salary will be determined based on the selected candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and relevant skills.
