Job description

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support and enhance production-critical systems across Ironmaking, Steelmaking, and the Rolling Mills. This role combines hands-on development, system integration, and operational support within a complex OT environment spanning both modern platforms and legacy systems. You will play a key role in improving system reliability, data integrity, and the ongoing modernisation of process control systems., * Develop and support applications using C#, Python, PHP, and SQL across multiple plant areas

  • Design, maintain, and optimise databases, interfaces, and data pipelines
  • Troubleshoot issues across real-time and near-real-time system integrations
  • Support and enhance operational reporting and dashboards (e.g. Grafana / Power BI)
  • Work on legacy systems (Fortran, VAX/VMS, Alpha) and contribute to migration/modernisation
  • Support virtualisation/emulation of legacy systems and integration with modern platforms
  • Ensure data accuracy, availability, and reliability across process control systems
  • Collaborate with operations, process engineers, and IT teams to resolve production issues
  • Follow and contribute to change control, version control (Git), and deployment practices
  • Identify and deliver improvements in system performance, resilience, and maintainability

Requirements

Do you have experience in Virtualization?, * Strong experience with C#, Python, PHP, or SQL.

  • Solid grasp of relational databases and data modelling.
  • Hands-on work with integrated systems and data flows.
  • Proven troubleshooting in complex production environments.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Desirable

  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing systems.
  • Exposure to data visualisation tools like Grafana or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of APIs and integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows servers.
  • Background in legacy system support.
  • Interest in analytics and automation.
