Job description

As a Senior NetworkW-FiiEngineer, you will be a skilled Practitioner and a role model inWi-Fisolutions. Responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to acrossthe department and guiding teams on how to deliver quality Infrastructure products.You willassistin the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration withArchitecture and Engineering principles.

You will also have the ongoing responsibility forthe full range of products that make upNetworksiteServices. Working in collaboration with a range of internal/external partners,stakeholdersand customers you will ensure the operational stability, robustness,resilience, availability, and quality of DWP Networks.

You will actively manage the work backlog and develop reliability improvements as wellas leading initiatives to develop the automation of low-value tasks balanced againstproject delivery demands., * Design & Deploy: Lead the design, deployment, and expansion of robust site-wide Wi-Fi networks using HPE Aruba solutions. Youll architect high-performance wireless networks that support business-critical operations across our locations.

  • Optimise & Secure: Proactively monitor Wi-Fi performance and security. modify configurations, conduct spectrum analyses, and implement best practices to ensure optimal coverage, capacity, and security of our wireless networks.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the in-house Wi-Fi subject matter expert. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and advise on Wi-Fi strategy, new technologies, and improvements.
  • Cross-Site Collaboration: Work closely with network teams and stakeholdersacross 900 sites supporting 100,000 users.
  • Support and participate in out of hours change work and on-call support as required across the team., Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.

Requirements

When giving details in your employment history and personal statement you should highlight your experience in line withessential criteriabelow:

  • Extensive Wi-Fi Expertise: Demonstrable background in designing and managing large-scale Wi-Fi networks, ideally in a senior or lead role. You understand the nuances of RF design, roaming, and high-density WLAN environments.
  • Hands-On Experience: Proven experience with wireless products (access points, controllers, ClearPass/Aruba Central, etc.). You can confidently configure and troubleshoot ArubaWi-Fiinfrastructures.
  • NetworkEngineering Skills: Demonstrable knowledge of general networking (LAN/WAN, switching, routing, VLANs, network security). Relevant certifications (e.g. Aruba ACMP, Cisco CCNP Wireless) are a plus.
  • ProblemSolver:Adept at diagnosing complex wireless issues and implementing effective solutions with minimal downtime.
  • Professional& Collaborative: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and explainingWi-Ficoncepts to non-technical stakeholders when needed.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Significant experience providing technical leadership in a senior Wi-Fi/network role, including mentoring and developing engineers, setting technical standards, and acting as a senior escalation point for complex wireless issues., You will be asked to do a 10 minute presentation on a specific topic. You must have resided continuously in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years, 2 of which must have been the immediately preceding years from the point of applying for this job.

Hybrid Working

This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from 57,946 to 73,205.

The maximum salary for the grade is 68,205, however a Digital Allowance of up to 5,000 per annum is available for exceptional candidates. Digital Allowance is non-salary, and non-pensionable, and is classed as a temporary allowance. It is reviewed annually where it could beretained, amended, or removed.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer willmaintaintheir current substantive salary.
