Job description

  • Respond to requests for data analysis and information from command staff by querying records management systems and creating the necessary reports to provide information.
  • Gather data and interpret, analyze, and prepare reports & surveys as well as interpret project results and outcomes (monthly, quarterly, yearly).
  • Develop reports on Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) data and response times, apparatus and equipment maintenance, risk management (pre-incident surveys), community risk assessment data, and incident report data in order to allow the department to measure performance with regard to established standards.
  • Analyze incident data to identify high-risk locations, repeat incidents, and emerging hazards.
  • Responsible for Global Information Systems (GIS) applications, providing mapping and GIS support.
  • Research background information to assist personnel with response to inquiries.
  • Identify service gaps and recommend deployment or staffing adjustments.
  • System administrator for Fire Records Management System (RMS) which includes but is not limited to fire reporting, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) reporting, inspection reports, training records, and equipment.
  • Review reports for accuracy of the incident data mandated by the Department, State, and Federal agencies as part of the NERIS (National Emergency Response Information System), determine necessary changes in reporting procedures, resolve user problems and prepare internal reports.
  • Maintain readiness for Insurance Service Office (ISO) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reviews, accreditation processes, and grant t audits.
  • Provide legally defensible data for litigation, insurance, and public records requests.
  • Develop easy-to-read dashboards for command staff, showing real-time metrics and historical trends.
  • Create specialized reports for training needs, apparatus replacement planning, and incident type forecasting.
  • Monitor unit utilization rates, apparatus usage, station workload distribution, and resource deployment efficiency.
  • Performs other work as required and assigned.

Schedule: The work hours for this position generally are 8:00 - 4:30 p.m., and may be subject to after hours, evenings and weekends.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Research?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Fire Science, Emergency Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of current software and systems used for data analysis, reporting, and information management within a public safety or municipal setting.
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license. License must be unrestricted except for corrective lenses.
