Job description
This position is responsible for developing and delivering digital literacy training to patrons and staff and promoting technology services within the library. This position will also serve as systems administration and web site development and design.
Guidelines consist of the library branch manual, the county personnel manual, relevant county procedures, and supervisor's instructions. Guidelines require judgement, selection and interpretation in application.
Contacts are typically with people or organizations in the community which utilize services of the library. Contacts are also with fellow employees in the library system.
Employee performs tasks while intermittently standing, sitting, or walking. Employe often has to reach, bend, or crouch in order to access materials. Employee must frequently lift light (less than 24 pounds) and must occasionally lift heavy (25-50 pounds) objects. Employee must possess manual dexterity., * Designs and conduct group workshops and one-on-one sessions on computer courses, internet safety, resume writing, etc.
- Creates instructional handouts, tutorials, and digital materials for classes.
- Collaborates with branch staff to create technology programs that align with community needs, including outreach to underserved areas.
- Provides services to patrons via phone, internet, or in person for technological assistance with services offered by the library
- Designs, develops, and maintains a responsive, intuitive website tailored to the needs of both patrons and internal staff
- Maintains and troubleshoots PINES ILS software, ensuring smooth library operations
- Drive digital marketing partnerships to enhance partner engagement and brand presence
- Instructs and assists patrons in use of online catalog and other reference materials
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Workshop facilitation?, * Knowledge of PINES and other databases offered by the library
- Knowledge of PC hardware, Windows operating systems, web browsers, and MS Office/Google Suite
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to beginners with patience and clarity
- Ability to work independently to resolve hardware and software issues
- Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing digital trends
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to assist a diverse user base with tact and courtesy
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field may be accepted, particularly if combined with relevant library experience. Sufficient experience in PINES to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with having a similar position for three to five years. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license.
A combination of education and/or work experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
